About this Event

This Earth Day we will explore the George Davies Building - part of the Leicester University Campus. When it was constructed it was the Largest UK Commercial Passivhaus, so we're revisiting the site with its architects and engineers to discover what they're proud of, and what they'd do better if they were building this facility today.https://www.passivhaustrust.org.uk/projects/detail/?cId=83

We'll have a short presentation on the thinking behind the building, including a delve into the post-occupancy data and how that has been used effectively, and the value of long soft landings and collaborative long term relationships.

Light refreshments will be provided while you chat with your fellow built environment professionals.

Then we will take a tour around the space, led by the experts who worked on the initial project, and the current Building Manager, looking at the ecological efficiency measures and how these are operating in reality today. We'll find out about some of the operating pitfalls as well as the advantages of this ambitious building.

Key takeaways will include what architects and engineers should be considering when building energy efficient, and low carbon buildings now and in the future.This is a practical session, aimed both at architects and engineers as well as building services personnel, designed to explore the human interactions with their place of work and study, and how these have impacted its energy use and running methods, and why collaboration between construction partners is essential throughout the process.

This event is open to anyone interested in the impact and future of sustainable building design.
