„pascal“ is the newest solo project by cologne-based composer, trumpet player and painter pascal klewer, where he presents vulnerable and emotional song structures about struggles with mental health, trying to dismantle toxic masculinity from within oneself.
pascal has been a major influence on the german jazzscene for a few years, ranging from his concert series “pascal klewer bigband meets” with guests such as peter brötzmann, evan parker, christopher dell, kit downes, kathrin pechlof, to his festival “222-festival”, to co-organizing the series “monday meetings”, to his own label “sts sts records”, to his ensemble “theconsistencyofdestruction”, to curating own interdisciplinary exhibitions, to leading the wdr bigband, to composing for the ARD, to being a soloist at the händelfestspiele,to winning prices (kompositionspreis bundesjazzorchester, neuer deutscher jazzpreis für composition, land hessen kompositionspreis) and also working as a sidemen in projects like “fallen crooner” or “aurora oktett”.
