Reported Activy
Reports of chilling, disembodied whistle echoing through the underground tunnels—said to belong to the infamous Whistling Gunner, whose legend has haunted Weymouth for generations.
The Gunner is not the only spirit said to walk these halls. A pale, spectral figure has been seen drifting along the walls of the locked building, vanishing into the night when approached. Staff themselves confess they will not tread certain corridors alone, fearful of what might be waiting in the dark.
Our previous investigations have only deepened the mystery: intelligent response and spirit box sessions alive with eerie voices, doors slamming of their own accord, equipment sparking to life without reason, and guests left shaken.
History
Built between 1860 and 1872, Nothe Fort was designed as a coastal stronghold to protect Portland’s vital naval harbour. Its three levels served distinct purposes: the Magazine Level stored volatile gunpowder and shells, the Gun Deck Level housed 12 heavy cannons and the soldiers who manned them, and the Ramparts offered a commanding view for muskets and lighter artillery.
Though decommissioned in 1956, the Fort’s dark passageways and echoing chambers still carry the weight of its past. Today, it stands as a museum—part guardian of history, part keeper of lingering whispers from another time.
