This panel brings together artists and scholars to speak about the Hairy Who, a Chicago-based artist group active during the 1960s known for their wild humor, vivid colors, and irreverent approach to art. Presented in conjunction with Gladys Nilsson’s wall drawing at the Menil Drawing Institute, the conversation considers the group’s influence on contemporary art, their subversive play with narrative and form, and why their work feels so fresh, funny, and radical today. This program takes place at the Menil Drawing Institute, located at 1412 W. Main St.
As always, Menil programs are free and open to all. Learn more: https://www.menil.org/events/panel-discussion-unruly-lines-the-legacy-of-the-hairy-who
