Painting Sacred Gardens - 6 week course

Spring Session: Saturdays, April 20-May 25 12:30-3pm

What makes a place special, magical, and inspirational? What makes it a refuge for meditation and healing? When does a place become more than a location: what makes it a sanctuary?

Join Austin as we explore these ideas and grow our own unique sacred garden paintings. This course will start with a visit to Kubota Gardens for observational plein air sketching, photographing, and gathering of inspiration. In the following sessions we will meet at The Conservatory NW where Austin will lead you through techniques for painting 3D landscapes, flora, and architectural elements as you create your own representation of a Sacred Garden.

In this course you will:

•Learn techniques for painting a 3D landscape, flora, and architectural elements.

•Embellish your work by exploring your creative intuition to paint your own Sacred Garden environment.

•Have fun and grow as an artist! This class will focus on using acrylic paint, but students are welcome to explore with any paint medium of their choice.

Absolutely no painting experience necessary - Austin will meet you at your ability level and help you grow as an artist. For the first class, bring a sketchbook, pencils or pens, and a camera. For the second session, basic starting materials will be provided along with a discussion about how to choose the right material for you.
