will present a brief ‘spoiler’ about her forthcoming exhibition, Photography Meet Sculpture: Talking about Photo Hybrids (working title), highlighting the strength of female lens-based artists included. The exhibit will be touring SoCal starting in Summer 2027 as part of the LACMA's Local Access initiative. For the photo nerds: yes, the exhibition alludes to the seminal 1970s exhibition Photography Into Sculpture, organized by Peter Bunnell for MoMA, to speak to our present moment of photo-hybrity.
Eve Schillo is an Associate Curator in the Wallis Annenberg Photography Departmentat LACMA. She curates exhibitions that span photographic history and appear in galleries dedicated to American, Latin American, Modern, Contemporary, and Japanese Art, as well as those devoted to photography. Recent projects include Mariana Yampolsky (2018), multi-hyphenate Mexican- American; Golden Hour (2021-22) a celebration of California photography; In the Now: Gender and Nation in Europe (2021); Before You Now: Capturing the Self in Portraiture (2024-25) and Nature on Notice: Contemporary Art and Ecology (partof the city-wide “PST ART,” 2025). Her upcoming exhibition will focus on photo-hybridity (2027-28) and will tour Southern California as part of LACMA’s Local Access initiative.
