About this Event
To help the cooling tower community prepare, the NYC Health Department invites you to join us in-person at an event on Wednesday April 29, 2026, for a presentation on the updates to Chapter 8 and what the changes mean for cooling tower compliance.
You can choose the morning session (11:00am-12:30pm) or the afternoon session (2:00pm - 3:30pm). Each session will provide an overview of key changes and an opportunity to ask questions about:
- Updated Legionella sampling requirements
- Annual Maintenance Program and Plan (MPP) certification
- Startup and Shutdown reporting
- Onsite recordkeeping expectations
- Enforcement changes.

Chapter 8 updates to be covered
Info: The presentation will clarify recordkeeping requirements and the updated Legionella sampling schedule, new annual certification of the Maintenance Program and Plan (MPP) and valve schedule, reporting startup, operation, and shutdown dates to the Health Department, and Qualified Person reporting of Legionella test dates. The presentation will also review revised corrective actions for bacteriological results under Table 8-2 and explain the Improper Water Treatment violation.
