About this Event
OVER / UNDER is happening on Saturday, November 16th @ 7:30pm and Sunday, November 17th @ 4pm at The Menomonee Club - Drucker Center. Join us for this shared evening of dance created and performed by Sophie Minouche Allen and Francesca Baron:
Hot, live and otherwise by Sophie Minouche Allen is inspired by the 1981-2000 anti-nuclear protests of the Greenham Common Women’s Peace Camp in Berkshire, England and is catalyzed by divergent familial tracings and other unsettled life fragments that get stuck between rocks and hard places. The solo navigates degrees of separation and holds spontaneity, grief and pleasure in proximity to disaster.
NO/ISE (128 bits per second) by Francesca Baron interrogates what lies on the other side of noise. In an age where we are exposed to 600+ advertisements each day, deafening media coverage, ferverant publicized opinions, increasing noise pollution, crippling politics and social expectations, the way to peace feels arduous. Noise clutters our senses and skews our perception on what holds importance. It affects our capacity to slow down and lead with intention. What needs to shift so we can focus on being rather than doing? This work is a love letter to the quiet, the delicate and the sensitive.
