The Quantum Blues Quartet featuring Tisziji Muñoz, Paul Shaffer, Will Calhoun, and Jamaaladeen Tacuma presented in collaboration with Outsiders Improvised & Creative Music Festival & SOUTH Restaurant & Jazz Parlor -where world class music meets world class cuisine .
Putting it simply The Quantum Blues Quartet presents a “must see” experience and the perfect chemistry for an all-star band. Paul Shaffer, a celebrated television personality, musical director, composer and arranger for celebrities such as David Letterman, The Blues Brothers and BB King, is in his element as an improviser; you will never truly know who Paul is until you see him like this. His mentor, Tisziji Muñoz, a pioneering figure in the creative music ecosystem, consistently ignites musical inspiration within the quartet. Tisziji is well known for his work with Jazz legends like Pharoah Sanders and McCoy Tyner, and for providing musical and spiritual mentorship to the next generation of greats like John Medeski of Medeski Martin & Wood.
Will Calhoun, renowned for his genre-defying drumming in the rock band Living Colour, has a deep connection to the world of traditional African rhythms, Jazz and Blues. In addition to leading his own ensembles, he has provided his distinctive drumming for Jazz legends such as Pharaoh Sanders, Wayne Shorter, BB King, and Dr. John.
Jamaaladeen Tacuma forged his unique musical identity during his formative years under the guidance of Ornette Coleman, and is known for his expressive performances, fearless musical innovation and creative force. Together Calhoun and Tacuma provide a solid foundation for this all-star ensemble. As a quartet, they seamlessly blend genres, transcending the boundaries of Jazz, Funk, and Blues harmonies and rhythms to create an unforgettable musical journey. Each one is well known for leaving their audience completely blown away. You will be enthralled and feel the “buzz’ long after the concert concludes.
