ABOUT OUT OF THE OFFICE
"OUT Of The Office" was founded in 2001 as a celebration for LGBTQ+ people, allies, family, and friends to gather downtown and kick-off Gay Pride Month in Chicago. Event founder Andrew Hayes officially passed the hosting duties and management of this extremely popular event to The Legacy Project in 2023 as a way to support the ongoing development of LGBTQ-Inclusive and Affirming education resources and curricula for Illinois public school students.
ABOUT THE LEGACY PROJECT
The award-winning Legacy Project works to educate the general public about the many roles Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Queer (LGBTQ) people have played in the advancement of world history and culture. Through "The Legacy Walk" in Chicago (the world's only outdoor LGBTQ museum and Chicago's newest Historic Landmark); "The Legacy Project Education Initiative" ( the foundation of Illinois's new LGBTQ-Inclusive Curriculum); and "The Legacy Wall" (traveling digitally-interactive exhibit) - the Legacy Project challenges the social and cultural marginalization of LGBTQ youth that fuels bullying.
