age-inclusive communities.
About this Event
Tracey Gendron brings nearly three decades of research on aging and age discrimination to life in this engaging, thought-provoking keynote. With sharp wit and real-world examples, Dr. Gendron challenges commonly accepted myths about aging and offers practical ways to recognize and disrupt ageism in ourselves, our communities, our policies, and our culture.
As Chair of the Virginia Commonwealth University Department of Gerontology, Director of the Virginia Center on Aging, and author of Ageism Unmasked: Exploring Age Bias and How to End It, Dr. Gendron is an internationally recognized voice on the real-world impact of age bias. This immersive presentation explores why Elderhood matters, how ageism undermines it, and what it looks like to build age-inclusive communities that support people across the lifespan.
This program is part of What About Age?—an exhibition on ageism conceived of and curated by Dr. Stacey Gordon of NYU CHAI presented in Marin by Vivalon—that challenges stereotypes and assumptions about aging and invites us to rethink how we see older adults, ourselves, and one another
