About this Event
Join us on October 17th at 6:30-8:30 pm at The People’s Forum (320 W 37th St, New York, NY) for this critical conversation.
Facial recognition tech in our apartments. Constant monitoring of our workplaces. Decades of police surveillance of Muslim, immigrant, and BIPOC communities. Even when we don’t see it, government and corporate surveillance impacts so many parts of our lives. This surveillance targets New Yorkers in different ways, from increased incarceration, to police violence and deportation, to denial of basic services. But it doesn’t have to be this way.
Hosted by The Surveillance Resistant Lab, the Policing and Social Justice Project, Amnesty International USA! Our event will include a 1 hour panel to learn from organizers and advocates, followed by food and a community dialogue. Attendance is free!
Moderated by: Amir Khafagy, award winning journalist with Documented
Panelists:
Naz Ahmed, Acting Director of CLEAR
Fabian Rogers, constituent advocate for NYS Senator Jabari Brisport
Elizabeth Vasquez, Director of the Science and Surveillance Project, Brooklyn Defender Services
