Tore “Jazztobakk” Gjedrem and Petter “Hi-Fi” Haavik — sharp dressed men, if there ever were any, are in many ways The Villa’s proverbial seventh father of the house, as inseparable from the venue as sauerkraut is from bratwurst. Even a six-month absence from these deep house ambassadors can feel like an eternity, especially when the place rarely gets as packed as it does when they’re behind the decks.
Fun fact: during his time as The Villa’s booking manager, Tore was the one who brought in wedding-singer-turned-cult-icon Omar Souleyman, drawing connections between Syrian dabke and acid house long before anyone else caught on.
