About this Event
Join us for a hands-on food preservation class where you’ll learn how to safely make and can two unique and flavorful recipes: Orange-Banana Jam and Balsamic Onion Jam!
This class will cover the fundamentals of water bath canning, including proper preparation, safe processing techniques, and best practices for preserving high-acid foods at home. You’ll also learn best food safety practices and how food preservation plays an important role in disaster preparedness, helping you build a shelf-stable food supply for emergencies.
Whether you’re new to canning or looking to expand your skills, this workshop will give you the confidence to preserve delicious jams safely and be better prepared.
Participants must be at least 16 years old to attend.
Participants will:
- Learn safe water bath canning techniques
- Learn best food safety practices
- Understand food preservation for disaster preparedness
- Prepare and process two jam recipes
- Understand ingredient selection and acidity
- Take home finished jars (while supplies last)

Canning Center Policies:
- Closed-toe shoes are required.
- If your hair is shoulder length or longer, it must be pulled back and securely fastened.
- No loose-fitting blouses or shirts that may get caught in equipment.
