About this Event
This summer, in partnership with local organizations & a volunteer team of soccer historians, the Brooklyn Football Foundation is standing up nine museum “exhibits” across the borough. They tell the story of each of the nine BK teams that won the U.S. Open Cup, America's 113-year-old national cup competition.
As the center to this extensive story, the Brooklyn Football Foundation has partnered with the U.S. Open Cup itself & the National Soccer Hall of Fame, to display a loaned portion of its collection. Artifacts on display will stretch across a century of American soccer, and showcase the depth of both Brooklyn’s soccer history & the nation’s flagship competition. These nine teams were defined by Brooklyn’s communities, especially its immigrant groups – together, they offer powerful insight into Brooklyn & America in the 20th century.
This collection will be on display all June at 351 Van Brunt St. in Red Hook, the home of 1921 champions Robins Dry Dock. Come join us to celebrate its opening, the night before the kickoff of the World Cup! Or, visit anytime across June, as we welcome Brooklynites & travelers alike to come see the best of American values.
