Join us for the Belfry’s Interactive (Kid and adult-friendly) Open House on Saturday, January 10 from 12 noon to 4 pm. Apart from the Fernwood History Walking Tour, this is a free event for people of all ages.
Most of the building will be open for you to tour on your own or with one of our ambassadors.
THE RUNDOWN
Meet the Donuts
At the start of every rehearsal period, the Belfry holds Meet the Donuts, where the cast and creative team meet Belfry staff. For our Open House, we invite you to stop by, introduce yourselves and grab a free hot coffee, hot apple cider, tea, or hot chocolate.
We’ll give you the lay of the land, get you started on our scavenger hunt contest, and send you on your way to explore the building and our interactive displays.
Scavenger Hunt Contest
We’ve hidden clues around the building. We’ll give you contest sheet (and pencil) and as you explore it will give you things to look for and random Belfry questions to answer.
You can win tickets to see our acclaimed presentation of Maanomaa, My Brother (My Bird, My Brother). This Ghanian/Canadian production runs from February 3 to March 1, 2026.
INTERACTIVE DISPLAYS
Our interactive displays will go on throughout the Open House – when you check in, we can give you times.
Darts with Dale
What it says on the tin, but with Dale and Peter, our carpenters, who will also be around to answer your questions in the carpentry shop.
Things that go pew-pew (kid-friendly)
Interactive sound demonstration with Jeremy, our Technical Director, in the Main Stage.
Blinded by the LX (kid-friendly)
Interactive lighting demonstration with Keith, our Head Technician, in the Main Stage.
Photobooth (kid-friendly)
Come and have your picture taken on our big green comfy couch (we’ll send you a link to the pictures after the event).
Painting a Pollock (kid-friendly) TBC
Scenic Artist Carole will show you the fine art of spattering.
STATIC DISPLAYS
How a Show Comes Together (or How We Learned to love Excel) – BMO STUDIO

The Room Where It Was Written - BELFRY TOWER
In 2022, The Belfry commissioned Christine Quintana to write a play for us and in February 2024, we premiered her latest work, As Above. Christine spent months in the tower, writing and rewriting. As Above was published by Playwrights Canada Press in October 2025.
