About this Event

Join us for Open Field Day, a day-long symposium held at the gallery on August 28th led by historian, poet, editor, and author Vincent Katz and featuring presentations by seven artists and three poets. The day begins with exhibiting artists in "Open Field" touring the participants through their work. Confirmed presenters include Jen Bervin, LigoranoReese (Nora Ligorano and Marshall Reese), Mary Muszynski, Reniel Del Rosario, Stephanie Syjuco, and Amy Trachtenberg.

The exhibit considers the ideals of Black Mountain College (seen through the lens of Anni Albers' work) and their impact on the presenting artists.

Ticket price includes:

  • Access to the artist talks
  • Catered lunch by Cuban restaurant Media Noche (vegetarian and gluten free)
  • A panel discussion with the artists and Vincent Katz
  • A wine reception, and meet and greet with the artist and poets
  • A poetry reading organized by Vincent Katz and assisted by Amy Trachtenberg with poets Tongo Eisen-Martin, Norma Cole, Duncan McNaughton, and Vincent Katz

$40 (includes attendance to all symposium events, lunch, and wine reception). Capacity is limited to 35 people.

Schedule:

  • 11am - 12:30pm: In-person artist talks by Jen Bervin, LigoranoReese, Mary Muszynski, Reniel Del Rosario, Stephanie Syjuco, and Amy Trachtenberg
  • 12:30pm - 1:30pm: Lunch Break (Media Noche: Cuban, vegetarian, and gluten-free)
  • 1:30pm - 3:30pm: Panel Discussion with the artists moderated by Vincent Katz
  • 3:30pm - 4pm: Wine Reception
  • 4pm - 5:30pm: Poetry Reading by Tongo Eisen-Martin, Norma Cole, Duncan McNaughton, and Vincent Katz.

This event will be hosted by BOXBLUR, a fiscally sponsored project of Dance Film SF, a 501 (c) 3 non-profit organization.


NOTE: Full vaccines for all guests over 12 (unless there is a for health reason) and masks are required to attend the performance. Thank you for your cooperation.
