On 22 April 1643 Parliamentarian troops rampaged through the surviving conventual buildings in Peterborough and ransacked the Cathedral Library. After the Restoration – and especially from 1707 under Dean (and later Bishop) White Kennett, the Dean and Chapter made strenuous efforts to reconstitute and restore the Library. This talk examines the destruction of the library and its partial recovery.
