About this Event
Join 1838 Collective for an evening celebrating one year of supporting emerging visual artists in Greater Manchester.
Hosted at SEESAW cafe/bar, this special event brings together Manchester-based artists and creatives for a relaxed night of connection and community.
This event is also a fundraiser! The funds we raise will help us cover essential costs such as materials, event production, artist fees, and keeping our activities accessible to artists regardless of financial circumstances. With your support, we can continue building a sustainable community that empowers artists and strengthens Manchester’s visual arts scene.
Join us to celebrate, connect, and support the future of Manchester’s artist community
About 1838 Collective
1838 Collective is an artist-led, non-profit organisation based at Islington Mill in Salford. We were founded by MA graduates of Manchester School of Art who recognised how difficult it can be to sustain an artistic practice after leaving education.
After graduation, many artists lose access to studio communities, peer feedback, and opportunities to exhibit or collaborate. This can lead to isolation and a loss of confidence at a crucial stage in their careers. Our aim is to bridge that gap by creating a supportive and accessible network for emerging artists across Greater Manchester.
Run entirely on a volunteer basis, we organise free and low-cost events that bring artists together. These include artist socials, coffee mornings, reading groups, group crits, workshops, talks, and exhibitions. These spaces allow artists to share ideas, receive feedback, build professional networks, and continue developing their practice.
