The evening begins with Franz Schubert's Fantasy in F Minor, a profound and dramatic work that showcases the composer's unparalleled ability to blend lyrical beauty with emotional depth. This masterpiece sets the tone for a night of extraordinary musical journeys. 

Next, Georges Bizet's suite Jeux d'enfants (Children's Games), capturing the innocence and energy of youth through a series of charming miniatures. These delightful pieces convey the playful spirit of children, with Bizet's characteristic melodic grace.  

Maurice Ravel's suite Ma Mère l'Oye (Mother Goose) invites listeners into a world of fairy tales and magic. Each movement paints a vivid picture inspired by classic stories, bringing to life the magic and wonder of childhood imagination. 

Richard Rodney Bennett's Suite for Skip and Sadie continues the theme of playful elegance, with music that is both sophisticated and joyful. Each piece is dedicated to the composer's beloved pets, full of character and charm. 

Finally, Fazıl Say's Night offers a contemporary perspective, blending elements of classical tradition with modern expressiveness. This evocative piece brings the programme to a mesmerising close, exploring the tranquillity and mystery of the night.
