Charley Cade, the plays central character, is born out of wedlock to a White woman and a Black man in late 1800s Louisiana. He is exiled from his biological mother’s plantation home before he is even born, and raised by an adoptive Black mother. The play explores the impact of skin color on a family from an unusual perspective, that of one who can “pass” for White but chooses to forsake his silver spoon birthright for the financially less fortunate hearts of gold that raised him. This play enables viewers of all ages and backgrounds to be at once charmed, educated, sensitized, and fortified by the jubilant hope instilled by this truth-based musical drama.” So mark your calendar and get ready for a night you won't want to miss!
