Experience ‘Once In a Green Moon’ at 701 CCA – December 19, 2024Join 701 Center for Contemporary Art for a captivating evening of live performance art on Thursday, December 19, 2024, at 8:30 p.m. This one-night-only collaboration features Chicago-based percussionist Tim Daisy, Mexico City-based trumpeter Jacob Wick, and Washington, DC-based bassist Luke Stewart.
About the Artists:
- Luke Stewart: A versatile musician, performer, and composer, Stewart’s work reflects a deep reverence for the history and traditions of Creative Music, drawing on diverse Black Music styles from the U.S., Africa, and beyond. He is a member of ensembles like Irreversible Entanglements, SILT Trio, Exposure Quintet, and Blacks’ Myths, and performs in numerous collaborations worldwide.
- Jacob Wick: An improviser, composer, writer, and artist informed by queer feelings and politics. Wick has performed at notable venues like SummerStage (NYC), Moers Festival (Germany), and the University Museum of Contemporary Art (Mexico City). His collaborators include Matana Roberts, claire rousay, and Toshimaru Nakamura, among others.
- Tim Daisy: A drummer, composer, and presenter active in the international improvised music scene since the late 1990s. Based in Chicago, Daisy has collaborated with leading experimental musicians and contributed to sound installations, films, and modern dance projects. He runs Relay Records, an artist-led label documenting his creative work locally and internationally.
Inspired by the Roef’s & Waddell collection, the performance explores the exhibition’s themes through sound, merging visual and auditory art into an unforgettable experience.
