On This Land: Charity Auction and Solidarity Event (vol II)

For over a year, we have witnessed a genocidal assault on Palestinians in Gaza, and the devastating consequences of this continue to grow: Israel's action have killed over 41,000 Palestinians, displaced 90% of Gaza's population and damaged or destroyed more than two thirds of all buildings in Gaza. Further horror, as we see unfolding in Lebanon and beyond, continues to mount and reach us here in the UK.

So many of us are feeling hopeless, as this genocide continues on and we witness our own government take no real action to stop the devastation of thousands of lives in the Middle East. We must, however, turn the feeling of hopelessness into action - and mobilise to continue doing what we can to support the people in Gaza. We must not let the privilege of being able to turn our phones off and look away get the better of us.

This is why our team of volunteers bring you the second edition, one year on, of On This Land: Charity Auction and Solidarity Event. This is an event for us to come together and continue to show solidarity for the people of Palestine. There will be an auction with amazing products and services from local, small businesses that have generously donated. We will hear from inspiring activists and end with music from DJs and musicians who have come together to show support. Full line-up to be released soon!

This time around we are raising money for Gaza Sunbirds, an amazing grassroots network who, in light of the ongoing genocide, have mobilised their para-cycling team and all its resources to providing community-led aid to Gaza. To date, their athletes and staff have distributed over $280,000 USD worth of aid. Regardless of how bad the situation gets, they are determined to continue supporting our communities through these tough times. Their grassroots network prepares and distributes parcels of essentials to the communities around them.
