This exhibition brings together the work of two contemporary Italian painters whose practices explore different yet complementary dimensions of perception. In the paintings of Simone Geraci, the human figure emerges in quiet contemplation. The body is not presented as spectacle, but as presence — a moment of introspection suspended within a luminous atmosphere. Rendered in delicate tonalities, Geraci’s figures appear almost to dissolve into their surrounding space, evoking a sense of memory, solitude, and interior reflection.
In contrast, Federico Severino constructs paintings that are entirely composed of light, colour, and atmosphere. His works evoke landscapes without describing them, suggesting moments of dawn, mist, or distant horizons through subtle gradations of tone. Rather than depicting nature directly, Severino invites the viewer into a sensory experience of light itself.
Presented together, the two artists create a dialogue between body and atmosphere, presence and horizon. The figure becomes a point of meditation within a wider field of light.
This exhibition also marks a cultural collaboration between Charlene Vella and Galleria Quam, bringing contemporary artistic voices from Sicily into conversation with Malta’s Mediterranean cultural landscape.
