About this Event
Olivier Latry, Titular Organist at the Cathedral of Notre-Dame in Paris and Professor of Organ at the Paris Conservatory of Music is one of the most distinguished concert organists in the world today. Shin-Young Lee is an internationally acclaimed organist who performs at international festivals and is frequently invited to perform with orchestras as a soloist. Berkeley Symphony, conducted by Ming Luke for this concert, is an integral part of the Bay Area classical music scene, respected as an institution that both honors its roots and embraces innovation.
Presented in conjunction with the American Guild of Organists 2024 National Convention in San Francisco (June 30-July 4), this concert features music for organ and orchestra by Diemer, Gandolfi, and Barber. A highlight is The Rite of Spring, which the husband-and-wife organists will play, four-hands and four-feet, from the reduction for piano duet by Stravinsky, on St. Ignatius’ new Hupalo & Repasky pipe organ.
