Olive Branch Sessions: A Classical Jam for Peace
Event Details
🗓️ Wednesday, October 2nd, 2024
⏰ 7:30-9:30pm (or later if we're having fun!)
📍 Pamenar Cafe, 307 Augusta St, Kensington Market, Toronto
Classical musicians dedicate our lives to amplifying and developing our artistic voices. Countless hours and years of training are devoted to this endeavor. Yet when the world needs those voices most, where do we turn? While social media offers one outlet, there's something irreplaceable about gathering in community, using our art to help those in need.
On October 2nd, some of Toronto's best classical musicians are coming together for an evening of music-making for a worthy cause. Think open mic meets intentional community. Let's hug, laugh, cry together and show that we care.
What to Expect
All proceeds go to Gaza Soup Kitchen (@gazasoupkitchen), a grassroots Palestinian family-run organization providing hot meals to families facing starvation in Gaza. Operating across multiple kitchen sites, they serve up to 3,000 people daily with simple, nourishing meals prepared under incredibly challenging conditions.
Performers have been asked to share music closest to their hearts. Don't expect a polished concert atmosphere. Expect great artists coming as they are, no rehearsals required. This is about authentic community music-making where every note serves a purpose beyond entertainment.
