About this Event
Extraordinary tales from ordinary lives — discover the fascinating human stories hidden in the pages of Chester's 18th-century newspapers.
In this brand new talk, local historian and writer Chris Fozzard draws on extensive research into old Chester newspapers dating back to the mid-18th century, unearthing a wealth of stories from an era when ordinary people found themselves caught up in extraordinary — and at times frankly bizarre — events. Vivid, surprising and thoroughly entertaining, this is local history at its most human.
Signed copies of Chris's books — The Chester Book Club, 1824 and A Short History of Newton Hall, Chester — will be available to purchase on the day.
Doors open:10.50am.
