About this Event
It's that time of year again when we honor one of dance music's legacy cities with the return of Recloose, for a new hybrid DJ/live experience. This marks his second appearance in a list of guests at this Sunshine City meets Motor City celebration that has included Kai Alce, the late Mike Huckaby, DJ Stingray, Keith Worthy, LADYMONIX, Whodat, and DJ Etta. Recloose is a Detroit don of soul and jazz-infused dance music. A representative for Roland, he's developed a unique live set performance incorporating his TR-1000 Rhythm Creator. One of St. Pete's biggest proponents of the Detroit sound, Austen van der Bleek will warm up the night alongside Greg G, whose record collection is considered one of the most eclectic and finest in Tampa Bay by those that know. We're excited to bring this to our home, Suite E Studios, an intimate, indoor warehouse space in the Warehouse Arts District. As an Official Movement Pre-Party, ticket holders will be entered to win a pair of passes to this year's festival, known around the world as an annual pilgrimage to techno Mecca.

Recloose is the alias of Matthew Chicoine, a Detroit-bred producer and DJ whose genre-spanning, soul and jazz-infused dance music has captivated audiences for nearly three decades. His journey began in 1997 with a now-legendary demo handed to Carl Craig, leading to influential releases on Planet E and collaborations with artists including Dwele, Amp Fiddler, and Paul Randolph.
In 2001, he relocated to New Zealand, where his sound and profile expanded through deep ties to the country’s emerging soul and dub scenes. His track Dust, featuring Joe Dukie of Fat Freddy’s Drop, became an underground anthem and remains one of his most enduring recordings, recently celebrated with a 20th anniversary reissue on Remedy Project and Defected. In 2008, his album Perfect Timing earned a New Zealand Music Award (Tui) for Best Electronic Album.
Since then, Recloose has continued releasing music through globally respected labels including Rush Hour (NL) and AUS (UK), alongside underground imprints such as Razor-N-Tape (NYC), 100 Limousines (Detroit), and Interspecies (Japan). With a string of recent releases and a new album currently in development, he is now performing a retrospective of classic material using the Roland TR-1000 Rhythm Creator alongside his DJ sets, contributing to renewed global visibility and audience growth since late 2025.
Beyond his artist work, Chicoine has spent the past decade at Roland working across artist relations, product development, and global marketing initiatives with leading artists and cultural partners.
