About this Event
Illustration Programme at Camberwell College of Arts present The Office for Speculative Landscapes, a dynamic illustration festival at Camberwell Space, blending workshops, performances, talks, and discussions. Reimagined as a hybrid critical-illustration studio and arts-education think-tank, the space will foster experimentation, community, and creative play.
Using a human-powered drawing machine created by Nous Vous (Jay Cover, Nicolas Burrows, William Luz) in 2014, participants can join up with others to experience the act of drawing in a much slower, complicated and frustrating manner than usual.
By slowing down and adding obstacles to the everyday activity of drawing, this activity opens up spaces for dialogue around mark-making, imagination and visual memory. It will also result in some amazing or terrible pictures, depending on your point of view.
Biography
Nicolas Burrows is a visual artist and illustrator using collage to create bold, direct and dynamic imagery applied across a range of media, formats and contexts. He works with unreliable and convoluted processes to push his image-making into surprising forms.
Along with William Luz & Jay Cover Nicolas is a director of Nous Vous — a group of artists working together since 2007 on graphic design, illustration, publishing, performance and educational projects. He creates and performs music under the name Fell.
