About this Event
Join us for an evening of fantastical stories and fairy tales with Amal El-Mohtar and Terri Windling to celebrate their latest books.
Amal El-Mohtar's short story collection Seasons of Glass and Iron covers her fifteen year career, including poetry and prose, showing the incredible range of the co-author of This Is How You Lose The Time War in short fiction. Time and again she has returned to fairy tales as a genre and a style, and has demonstrated the wide range of what is possible in that mode, as well as far outside it.
Terri Windling was the key editor behind the mythic fiction resurgence that began in the 1980s, editing anthologies including the Snow White, Blood Red series of fairy tales for adults alongside Ellen Datlow, as well as writing her own fairy tale inflected novel, The Wood Wife. She has also collaborate with iconic fairy visual artists Brian and Wendy Froud. Her latest book is Fairy Tales For Grown Ups, published by the British Library as part of their major Fairy Tales exhibition.
Amal and Terri have known each other for many years and we are thrilled to be able to bring them together in conversation again to celebrate their wonderful new books. They will be talking about the joys and eternal draw of fairy tales, the flexibility of fairy stories, career and legacy, and more, before signing copies of their books.
