About this Event
Of the People, By the People, For the People is a communal movement project led by choreographer/director Paula Josa-Jones. The project's intention is to evoke the spirit of regeneration and community in this celebratory marking of our 250th anniversary as a nation. All activities will be held outdoors on the campus of Five Points Art Center.
Paula Josa-Jones is a dance artist, choreographer, movement educator and therapist known for her visually rich, emotionally charged dance theater. Her work includes choreography for humans; inter-species work with horses, dancers and riders; film, and video. One of her local projects was, performed in 2018 in the Housatonic River in Kent, CT. Paula’s solo, Darker, is posted on the Art Rejects Tyranny website, and more of Paula's work can be explored at paulajosajones.org. Paula’s collaborators in developing this project include Jill Drew and Patricia Oris.
In addition to the movement choir, there will be a group sound meditation, art-making stations, as well as a food truck and music.
If weather requires, the performance and festivities will move indoors.
