About this Event
Abby Sullivan Engen directs the immigration legal practice at Centro Legal de la Raza, where she has represented hundreds of families and children seeking asylum, Special Immigrant Juvenile Status, and other humanitarian protections.
In recent years, Abby and her team have focused on federal habeas petitions to secure the release of noncitizens unlawfully detained in ICE custody. She also leads collaborative efforts to advance immigrant justice across Alameda County, including partnerships with local school districts to provide legal education and services to students and families, expanding pro bono representation for asylum seekers and detainees, and coordinating volunteer-based legal workshops for unaccompanied children.
