Southern Brooklyn’s only weekly drag show and New York City’s only all-ages RuPaul’s Drag Race watch party returns to Coney Island for its third season — now at a new home.
Produced by Tawk Productions and hosted by Brooklyn drag artist Maxxxim (with weekly guest co-hosts), this free weekly event has become a beloved neighborhood tradition and an important community gathering during Coney Island’s off-season. What began as a simple watch party has grown into a vibrant, intergenerational space centered on queer joy, performance, and connection.
Every Friday night schedule:
- 8:00–9:30 PM — RuPaul’s Drag Race watch party
- 9:30–10:00 PM — Live drag & burlesque performances
- 10:00 PM onward — DJ dance party
This is an all-ages event.
Kids are welcome. Well-behaved pets are welcome.
Families, longtime locals, immigrants, queer youth and elders, and first-time visitors all gather under one roof to watch, celebrate, and connect. The series also books and pays local performers, creating a consistent platform for Brooklyn-based artists throughout the winter months.
Taking place in the heart of Coney Island, near Brighton Beach, the event provides rare LGBTQ+ visibility and community-building in a working-class part of Brooklyn where queer spaces are limited. For many attendees — including immigrants, asylum seekers, and refugees from post-Soviet countries — this is their first experience of open, public queer community.
