NYCxDESIGN invites high school and college students to an exclusive visit to Cornell Tech, featuring two innovative programs shaping the future of design, architecture, and technology.
During this 90-minute experience, attendees will participate in two 45-minute guided tours, each highlighting a different academic program and perspective on design education.
Tour 1: Cornell Tech – Design Tech Program
The Design Tech showcase presents student and faculty work in domains spanning interaction design, game design, and virtual and augmented reality. In this guided tour, visitors get a closer look at individual projects, explore the lab spaces, and learn more about the Design Tech department, from its courses and curriculum to what working at the intersection of design and emerging technology looks like in practice. It will be led by Associate Professor Harald Haraldsson.
Tour 2: Cornell University – Gensler Family AAP NYC Center Programs
Students will also learn about programs from Cornell University’s College of Architecture, Art, and Planning (AAP) at the Gensler Family AAP NYC Center. Representatives will share insights into academic pathways in architecture, urban design, art, and planning, and how studying in New York City connects students to one of the world’s most dynamic design environments. The Cornell AAP tour will be led by Executive Director Bob Balder.

Throughout the tours, participants will hear directly from program representatives about curriculum, studio culture, and career pathways across design, technology, and the built environment.
Cornell Tech is also launching a new high school summer program focused on technology this summer called , and Cornell AAP will be launching a high school summer program in architecture, art, and planning on the Cornell Tech campus as well called . This visit is a great opportunity to learn more about these upcoming programs and what it’s like to study on the Roosevelt Island campus!

Meeting Location & Check-In
Please arrive at the Cornell Tech campus on Roosevelt Island and check in with NYCxDESIGN staff upon arrival.
Please plan to arrive 10–15 minutes early to allow time for campus check-in.
Getting to Cornell Tech from Manhattan
The easiest ways to reach Cornell Tech from Manhattan are:
- Take the New York City Subway F Line toward Queens and get off at Roosevelt Island Station. From there, walk about 10 minutes south to the Cornell Tech campus.
- Or take the Roosevelt Island Tramway from 59th St & 2nd Ave in Manhattan to Roosevelt Island, then walk about 12 minutes south to campus.
