About this Event
When Children and Young Adults are targeted, groomed and exploited, they rarely talk about what has happened to them for a variety of reasons and this results in Safeguarding partners wondering how they will be able to effectively safeguard them.
Frequently there is too much emphasis placed upon the victim/survivor to provide a detailed disclosure and an absence of such leads to a fear that, “little, if anything, can be done”.
Safeguarding is everyone’s business and all partners have a responsibility to feel confident and competent to discuss a community partnership approach to designing and implementing effective disruption plans. This conversation should inform and underpin every safety plan and risk assessment, for every child/young adult experiencing, or at risk of exploitation.
This year, we are very excited to announce that our "Interrupting and Disrupting the Exploitation of Children and Young Adults" Training has been refreshed and is being relaunched.
The 3-hour session will include;
- A CPD-accredited NRM module
- Links to our Disruption toolkit that tackles Child and Adult Exploitation
- References to our newly developing Disruption Case library
- Real-life and recent case examples of different types of Modern Slavery and Trafficking
- An input from Police Officers who have ‘hands-on’ experience of applying for and being granted, Slavery and Trafficking Risk and Protection Orders.
- How mapping tools and professional curiosity will fill intelligence gaps and enable exploitation to be investigated, in the absence of a disclosure.
The session will provide you with an opportunity to develop your competence, knowledge and skills in relation to disrupting and interrupting exploitation.
The session will be facilitated by Lin Sands – NWG Network Police and Justice Lead. Lin will support and enable you to learn and hear about national developing practices, and the creative strategies and tactics that have been used to positively and effectively impact safeguarding practice.
This event will take place on Microsoft Teams - a link to join will be sent to you through Eventbrite 2 days before the event and again 30 minutes before the start - please check your inbox and spam/junk folder for the email and link
