About this Event

Nowruz (Persian New Year)
Sat 21 March | 14:00-17:00

Join us for Nowruz (also known as Persian New Year) to celebrate the beginning of Spring and new life.

Nowruz is a celebration with over 3,000 years of history, observed across Iran, Central Asia and many neighbouring regions. Rooted in cultural traditions, it marks the Spring Equinox and symbolises renewal and hope for the new season ahead.

A special thank you to our co-creators and community collaborators Afrooz Bayat, Zarifeh Peygar and Hesam Moshfegh.

We warmly invite you to welcome the longer days and explore the connection between humans and nature, with a variety of Nowruz edible dishes and delicacies, live music, dancing and community togetherness. This event is open to everyone, including people who observe Nowruz, and those who might be joining in for the first time, with opportunities to learn about traditions such as the Haft-sin table, which includes seven items that begin with the letter “S.”

Sabzeh (greens) symbolize rebirth and new life.

Seeb (apple) represents beauty and health.

Seer (garlic) stands for health and protection.

Samanu symbolizes blessing and abundance.

Sanjed (oleaster fruit) represents love and affection.

Serkeh (vinegar) symbolizes patience and longevity.

Sumac represents sunrise, rain, and hope.

We look forward to welcoming you to be part of the Nowruz community, and celebrate this joyous occasion.
