Tacos & Tomorrow. This seminar will provide the details, decisions, and administration that you will be encountering in the days following the death of a loved one. This is not about what you should do, but rather what you will have to do in the days, weeks and months following your loss. Unfortunately, this knowledge is often learned for the first time in the worst time. We hope to empower you and help you be prepared.
This event is for all ages because loss affects everyone. Join us to hear real stories, listen to practical advice and gain resources.
Presentation will include
• The personal journey of a younger widower, and what he had to deal with logistically in the aftermath of losing his wife
• Sunlife Financial will explain the steps to take as the executor, and for the beneficiary of the life insurance, and investments. Providing clarity on what happens during the claim process.
• There will be a Certified Financial Planner from Sun Life in attendance as well, who will be discussing filing terminal tax returns and other CRA issues that happen after someone passes.
• Knowledge shared from the banking sector, on what your financial centre will need, the accounts you will have to open, and the administration details you will be dealing with
• Rockies Law will share about wills, power of attorney, executors, probate and why this is important. How they are used. And what happens if you don't have one.
• A local paramedic will share about what to expect if death occurs at home and they are called onto the scene.
• McPherson Funeral Services will explain the decisions you will be making immediately, and the arrangements and logistics you will need to discuss with them.
Death can be a time of sorrow, but we choose to celebrate the Day of the Dead this year, including a Mexican meal provided by Chef Nick Freiheit.
