Step into a creative forest and craft a journal that feels alive with texture, meaning, and magic. In this hands-on workshop, you’ll design and sculpt your very own Journal cover inspired by bark, mushrooms, moss, and the quiet beauty of the woods. Using carving tools, clay, and paint, you’ll bring your personal story to life, one that’s as unique as you are.
We’ll begin with an intention - a feeling, word, or spark that you want your journal to hold. As you shape and paint, you’ll be guided to infuse your piece with that energy, turning creativity into meditation. The process is grounding, imaginative, and deeply personal.
Why journals? Because writing and reflection have the power to heal, transform, and reconnect us. Whether you’re a writer, maker, dreamer, nature lover, or simply someone seeking quiet time away from screens, this is your chance to slow down and create something meaningful and treasured forever.
This is a two-part workshop (2.5 hours each night).
Like nature itself, creation takes time — your clay mushrooms need to dry before they can bloom with colour. Over two evenings, we’ll move slowly and mindfully, shaping, painting, and bringing your forest journal to life — a gentle reminder that beautiful things grow with patience.
Workshop dates: Must be available for both sessions.
- Day 1, Nov.6, 6-8:30pm: Sculpt and carve bark design, mold a mushroom from clay, and begin painting your bark. Your clay creation will dry overnight.
- Day 2, Nov. 7, 6-8:30pm: Highlight bark and create textures, paint mushroom and add mossy adornments.
You’ll leave with a hand-crafted journal that feels like a small forest sanctuary, ready to hold your thoughts, dreams, and grow your stories.
What to Expect & Requirements:
- A love of working with your hands - they will get messy :)
- Comfort using an X-Acto knife - must be 18+ and sign a waiver before the workshop.
- All supplies included.
