About this Event
This spring, Action Against Hunger invites you to explore that question through the eyes of the children of farmers nearly 3,000 miles apart.
We'll screen The Boys and the Bees , Arielle Knight's Sundance award-winning short documentary about a Black family in rural Georgia tenderly passing down wisdom, love, and a deep connection to the land to their two young sons.
Then we'll present the New York premiere of Dina Mwende and Julia Dahr’s With Grace, the story of a witty, unstoppable 13-year-old girl in Kenya whose family farm is tested year after year by drought and climate disaster, and who holds her whole family together with humor and unshakeable hope.
Both films remind us that hunger is never just about food. It’s about what families stand to lose — and what they fight fiercely to protect — when the world around them becomes uncertain. They reflect something Action Against Hunger has always known: to nourish a child is to nourish everything around them — land, family, and future.
That is why Action Against Hunger works to support climate-impacted communities in Kenya and beyond. Arielle Knight and other special guests will join us in person for a panel discussion and Q&A, while Dina Mwende will share a special video message in honor of the film’s New York premiere.
The evening concludes with a reception featuring drinks and light bites.
