  • Discuss specific exercise techniques and treatment plans for different joints and determine the efficacy of these strategies
  • Identify methods to improve communication with patients and enhance rehabilitation and recovery from various joint injuries.

Statement of Need: Clinicians who are currently involved throughout the patient continuum of care continuously being presented with various new treatment options, both surgical and non-surgical. Given the influx of new information, these options are now having to be taken into consideration when treating patients for various joint conditions. This activity will address the gap of knowledge that exists as new information continues to evolve, as well as minimal evidence-based outcomes research. Due to the knowledge gaps, clinicians who consistently treat ankle, knee, hip, shoulder, and elbow injuries and conditions now find themselves having to make difficult decisions in a patient's treatment and plan of care, often times evoking peer-to-peer controversy. This educational activity is designed to change how a clinician will consider a patient's plan of care after recognizing the potential positive and negative impacts posed by the variety of clinical interventions, both in the orthopedic continuum & rehabilitation continuum of care in order to achieve the best possible patient outcomes.

Target Audience:This program is designed for MDs, PAs, PTs, and ATCs. Other members of the healthcare team including NPs, RNs, Fellows, Residents and Medical and Physical Therapy Students are invited to attend.

Joint Accreditation Statement: In support of improving patient care, Northwell Health is jointly accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME), the Accreditation Council for Ph*rm*cy Education (ACPE), and the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), to provide continuing education for the healthcare team.
