Discover the playful arts of origami and calligraphy in a drop-in workshop for all ages. As part of this year's North East Festival of Blossom, students from Durham's Teikyo University will be joining us, wearing traditional Japanese dress to set the scene. They'll introduce you to the traditional paper craft of origami, and the elegant artform of Japanese calligraphy, Shodo.
This activity is free (normal admission charges apply). Donations are welcome.
Booking not needed - drop in. Head to the admissions hut at the entrance; a member of our admissions team will direct you to the workshop.
Children welcome, must be accompanied by an adult.
Level access from the car park; from there, access to the main garden area is via an incline. Winding, narrow or uneven paths make some areas inaccessible to wheelchair users. Please get in touch if you have any questions regarding access.
