The NoFi Sessions are a new listening room concept that focuses on highlighting local musicians in a small intimate space. Live audio and video will be recorded so be sure to be a great audience member! Charlie Merk is a trumpet player and composer from Cincinnati, Ohio. He is a 2023 graduate of the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music, where he earned a Bachelor of Music in Jazz Studies and Commercial Music Production. He has performed around the Midwest with the Charlie Merk Quartet and the Merk Brothers. His works have been performed by the Cincinnati Contemporary Jazz Orchestra, the Original Farm League Big Band, and the USAF Band of the West. Merk is a recipient of the Jazz Arts Group Hank Marr Award and was named an Outstanding Soloist at the 2022 Jazz at Lincoln Center Jack Rudin Jazz Championship. The Merk Brothers' debut album "At Least" was released on Golden Mean Records in 2023 and their sophomore album is forthcoming.
