About the musicians
Scott Stein is a Kensington-based pianist, songwriter, composer and music director. His plain-spoken vocal delivery calls to mind Paul Simon's everyman-poet while his piano chops have garnered comparisons to Bruce Hornsby and Elton John. His latest EP Uphill, released in 2022, was designed as a sort of song-cycle about grief, loss and ultimately coming out on the other side. In addition to his songwriting, Scott is a sought-after collaborator, accompanist and choral composer and conductor. www.scottsteinmusic.com
Hannah Winkler is a Brooklyn-based artist who weaves together her rock, folk, and pop influences to create a sound that's all her own. Formerly a member of the band Secret Someones (Cherrytree/Interscope Records), she has spent many recent years as a backing musician, touring and playing with artists such as Lorde, Ingrid Michaelson, A Great Big World, Darren Criss, and more. Hannah is excited and grateful for the opportunity to be sharing her new original work, with her first full-length album due for release this fall. It touches on themes of post-pandemic reflection, self-care, and self-love, and the lush arrangements and soaring melodies welcome in the listener with vulnerability and grit.
Avi Fox-Rosen is a guitarist, singer, songwriter, producer and multi-instrumentalist based in Brooklyn, NY, equally at home in rock, Yiddish, klezmer, theater, or improvised music worlds. His writes songs with a sardonic sense of humor, dense and dark lyrics, and enchantingly twisted melodies. New York Music Daily has heralded Avi’s work as “consistently excellent”. Avi has worked with many of the leading lights in new Yiddish music over the last 20 years including Adrienne Cooper, Daniel Kahn, Sarah Gordon, Michael Winograd, Basya Schechter, The Klezmatics, and the solo projects of Matt Darriau, Frank London, and many others including his brother, bassist and singer Benjy Fox-Rosen. Outside of his musical world, Avi is also a proud parent, a proud member of the queer community 🌈, and is a lead software developer at an educational technology firm.
