Note: This event is onlineNikolaj Frederik Severin Grundtvig (1783-1872) is often mentioned as all-important for the development of the Danish liberal and democratic society. He was a poet, writer, politician, educationalist, and a Protestant Lutheran priest. And he is often referred to as the founding father of the Folk High School.
Of course, there is a risk that his importance is overestimated. But moving closer to his work, life, and historical context still gives a deeper understanding of today’s Danish society and the current debates about democracy, education, freedom, and identity – in Denmark as well as internationally. This will be the focal point of this ‘beginners’ introduction’.
