One part of Glasgow Soundbath is setting up shop at Raines House in London! After two years of successful events at the historic Arlington Baths in Glasgow, a new event is starting in London with Leslie. Iain will continue the Glasgow event.
The upstairs dance studio at the Raines House community centre is a wonderful bright space which provides a calm atmosphere for the immersive event. I bring you London Sound Bath everyone. Very happy be to starting this event in Wapping. These will be held monthly on the first Sunday. If there is interest, I may also start a 1hr session on a weekday evening once a month.
I now have 8 brand new yoga mats and blankets in case anybody needs.
If you do have your own mat, please bring.
You may also want to bring a pillow and eye cover too.
Comfortable clothes are a good idea too in whatever form that means for you.
If sound baths are new to you, please find some information below. Any further questions please don't hesitate to get in touch. My name is Leslie and I have been hosting weekly sound baths with Iain at 170 Queens Drive in Govanhill, Glasgow since July 2022, which then moved to the Arlington Baths in Glasgow.
About me I lived in London for many years before venturing to Glasgow to obtain a PhD. This summer I moved back to London for a Postdoctoral research position looking at digital performance and production, and the potentials of immersive technologies for creative therapeutic and wellness experience.
The payment system is modeled on the Green Bottle Scale. There are different options, and you pay what you can afford. In addition, if a certain tier of ticket is sold out and you would like to come or would like to engage in this practice as a low income or unemployed person get in touch.
What Is a Sound Bath?
A sound bath is a still, meditative experience where those in attendance are immersed in sound waves. These waves are produced by various instruments such as gongs, singing bowls, chimes, rattles and tuning forks. The music is a carefully selected wash of instrument sounds with soothing resonance and overtones. During the sound bath, participants lie comfortably on their backs or sit upright in chairs for the entire experience.
Benefits of Sound Baths?
The intention of this experience is to create a sense of calm in the listener by using sound. Benefits include relaxation, an increased sense of wellbeing and tranquility. Participants often report a reduction in stress and mental busyness. In addition to helping the body relax many people think sound baths and sound healing therapies can foster physical healing.
Who can attend Sound Baths?
Sound baths are for everyone at any stage of their lives. Since participants are lying down or sitting still the entire time, there is no need for athletic ability or flexibility to participate. Sound baths are beneficial for pregnant women, prehab or rehab, old and young, and people who have experienced minor disease, illness or trauma.
