About this Event
What it's all about: Kirtan is a call and response musical meditation from the yoga tradition, considered the most potent form of meditation in this day and age. Singing these powerful transcendental sound vibrations cleanses the heart and mind and brings peace to the soul. Kirtan is an active, social form of meditation that you can do with friends. It is meant to be adapted to its time and place, so we’ve taken ancient mantras and set them to upbeat dance music. By engaging our whole bodies in singing and dancing in an immersive and meditative way, we’re able to cleanse our minds of our everyday anxieties and come fully into the present moment to discover the love and joy that is our eternal nature.
We’ll share food at the start of the program. At 7pm, we’ll open our meditation with a guided breathing practice and a resonant mantra circle that takes you deep into a meditative space. Then, sing along with ancient mantras in a call and response format and dance if you feel inspired! We’ll have locally made artisanal mocktails and some special treats to fuel your energy for the evening.
Beginners highly encouraged, all ages, voices and experiences welcome!
