La Gran Cañada Trail – La Pedriza Hiking Route
The La Gran Cañada trail is one of the classic routes in La Pedriza, a spectacular granite landscape located within Sierra de Guadarrama National Park near the village of Manzanares el Real. This hike is perfect for those who want to experience the wild beauty of La Pedriza without committing to the more technical routes deeper in the massif.
The trail begins near the entrance of La Pedriza and gradually climbs through open granite terrain, typical of the area. The landscape is dominated by huge rock formations, sculpted by erosion over millions of years, creating an almost otherworldly environment of towers, domes, and narrow passages. Along the route, hikers are rewarded with sweeping views of the surrounding valleys and the reservoir of Santillana below.
La Gran Cañada itself is a wide natural corridor between granite ridges. The path follows gentle slopes and sandy sections, making it relatively comfortable compared with the rugged terrain that characterizes much of La Pedriza. Holm oaks, junipers, and aromatic Mediterranean shrubs line parts of the trail, while birds of prey such as vultures and eagles can often be seen circling above the cliffs.

How to get there
By Bus: we are going by bus. meet us at intercambiador de plaza castilla ( underground bus station of plaza de Castilla) at 09:40am. For departure at 09:50am. Nivel (Flor) -3. Bus to Manzanares el real, Bus Number 724. Dock number 25. One way cost 3€ and you pay to the bus driver. If you have abono joven then the bus trip is Free.
Private Cars: People by private car, must wait in front of (super market Dia) Situated next to our Bus stop in manzanares el real.

What to Bring?
It is necessary to bring hiking shoes, Comfy clothes with an extra layer in the backpack in case it gets colder. Sun Screen, Summer Cap, Your lunch and 1.5L water (minimum).
in case of Rain we are not going to cancel this event. please bring rainy jacket or a small umbrella.

The Charges are only 10€. Cash in hand at the end of Hike. The Price (10€) includes only Hike guide and RC insurance, everyone must pay by own public transport charges, which are mention above.
