About this Event
Nevada Naturalist Program, sponsored by the University of NV Extension, is an adult environmental education and volunteer training program geared towards conservation in southern Nevada.
In-person and online classes meet twice a week to introduce a variety of subjects: ecology, native flora and fauna, geology, cultural and natural history of southern Nevada, and more. Field trips follow on Saturdays to different destinations in the area.
- Enhance your education about the natural resources in southern Nevada
- Become a volunteer dedicated to conserving those resources with one of our partnering agencies.
This spring, participants will be given the opportunity to view dinosaur footprints in the Valley of Fire State Park, hike the historic tunnel trail at Lake Mead, participate in a Green Up at Warm Springs Natural Area, get up close and personal with some of our native desert dweller reptiles, view birds in their natural habitat at Henderson Bird Viewing Preserve, participate in a botany hike in Red Rock Canyon, and a carp rodeo at Pahranagat NWR, construct native bee houses, and more.
Topics include: native soils, invasive plants, conservation biology, native flora and fauna, pollinators, plant ID, birds, bats and more.
The session begins on April 8, and continues through May 27, 2026.
Classes meet in the evenings from 6PM - 9PM on Mondays and Wednesdays and field trips are on Saturdays at various times and locations. Carpooling will be available for most field trips.
The cost to attend is $200 per person or two people registering together for $300.
