Neuro-Inclusive Community Design Book Signing
Join us in person for a special meet-and-greet with Charles Durett! Get your copy signed and chat about making communities more neuro-inclusive. It’s a great chance to dive into meaningful conversations and connect with others passionate about inclusive design.
You are invited to a special afternoon with renowned architect and author Charles Durrett as he celebrates the release of his powerful new book, Neuro-Inclusive Community Design. The event will take place at the cohousing located in at Pacific Gardens Cohousing at 347 Seventh St. in Nanaimo.
In an era when conversations about inclusion and belonging are more important than ever, Durrett’s latest work offers a hopeful, practical roadmap for designing communities that truly support neurodiverse individuals and their families. On Thursday, March 21st at 12:00 PM, attendees will have the opportunity to meet the author, have their copies signed, and engage in an inspiring discussion about how thoughtful design can foster connection, dignity, and opportunity for all.
The pioneer of cohousing in North America, Durrett has spent decades exploring how the built environment shapes human experience. With Neuro-Inclusive Community Design, he expands that vision. Focusing on how neighborhoods, housing, and public spaces can be intentionally designed to support people across the neurological spectrum. From sensory-friendly environments to inclusive planning practices, the book blends research, real-world examples, and heartfelt insight into what it means to build places where everyone belongs.
This event is more than a book signing; it is an invitation to participate in a meaningful conversation about the future of our communities. Whether you are passionate about housing, urban planning, education, accessibility, social connection, or simply care about creating kinder more responsive neighborhoods, this gathering offers a unique opportunity to learn, share, and connect.
Guests are encouraged to come, meet fellow community members, and join in what promises to be a thoughtful and engaging afternoon. Books will be available for purchase at the event.
