Geared to: Anyone willing to try! No previous experience needed.
A classic project with a ton of uses. Learn to taper, twist, scroll round eyes, and bend nice hooks to form a nice, long S-hook. Experience the power of localized quenching to lock-in shapes! This could pair nicely with Friday’s plant hanger…
Useful Tools: Hammer, twisting wrench, and mallet. Maybe ¼” V-bit tongs.

Sunday, 8:30 am: Penannular Cloak Pin with Eric Johnson or “Staff”

A version of this pin might be seen on an old Celtic plaid or Viking cloak, but it’s just as nice today for dressing up your winter scarf. Skills include tapering, amazing reverse twists, scrolling a round eye, basic hot cutting, and how to intelligently achieve a circular shape. Lots of space for playing with the design on this one!
Useful Tools: Basic kit* plus wolf jaw or ¼” v-bit tongs, very small tongs, twisting wrench, mallet, small quenching can, and hot cut chisel.
*Basic Kit: eye & ear protection, forging hammer, wire brush, measuring stick & chalk, center punch, and notebook & pencil.
